Richard Zerah

Richard holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the State University of New York at Albany, where he graduated in 1979. Richard began his career with the “Big Eight” accounting firm, Touche Ross & Co. He was a member of the audit department from 1979 to 1983.

Richard is currently the president of Zerah & Company CPAs, P.C., which is a full service accounting firm specializing in the needs of closely held businesses and business owners.

He has been a Certified Public Accountant since 1981, and also holds the designations of Personal Financial Specialist accredited by the American Institute of CPAs, Certified Financial Planner as authorized by the CFP Board of Standards, Certified Retirement Financial Advisor, as authorized by the Society of CRFA’s, and Chartered Mutual Fund Counselor, as authorized by the College of Financial Planning.

He is an active member of the NYS Society of CPAs. He has served on the State Level Board of Directors, and is a past President of the Nassau Chapter. He has also served as chairman of the Estate Planning Committee and Personal Financial Planning Committee. He is a member of the AICPA Personal Financial Planning Division.

Richard is very active within the community, currently serving as Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Special Olympics New York, and as a past Officer of the Metropolitan Youth Orchestra Board of Directors, as Treasurer. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Long Island Chapter of the Institute of Certified Financial Planners, as Treasurer, as well as the Levittown Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.

Richard has published several articles in magazines such as The CPA Journal and Long Island Magazine. He has been periodically quoted in the business section of Newsday and the Daily News. He has been a guest speaker to professional and civic associations on topics related to personal financial planning, accounting and taxes, and has spoken frequently for the Foundation for Accounting Education. He has previously received a community service award from the Levittown Chamber of Commerce for his efforts within the Special Olympics
